The Brief
Merchants wanted a checkout that customers trust at a glance and that their developers can add in an afternoon. Security had to be visible without slowing the payment down.
Success was measured in completed payments and in the time a developer needed to add the checkout to a new store.
Our Approach
We designed the checkout as a small set of reusable components, validated card fields as people type, and documented every state so engineering could build it without guessing.
Error messages were rewritten in plain language and every field was tested with a screen reader and a keyboard before launch.
The component set and its documentation now let merchants ship the same checkout on web and mobile with very little extra work.
